Bawa Plays Poker

The Road To Vegas

Alright. I’m back. I have some free time today so I’m gonna play a re-buy 3$ and a 4$ freeze out.

I may be a little rusty so not expecting a lot of results. Still gonna play my best. I’ve said before, all I make from here until I leave for Vegas will be my spending purse so it could mean nothing or it could be a very interesting weekend.

Whoa, I’m all in early…and I just doubled up. first in chips. Results to follow!

Break

Poker has and will be on hiatus for a couple of weeks. I just can’t find the time for it. Once the winter break starts, i’ll probably playing as part of my “Weight Gain 5000” regiment. I’ll also try to read more books, my strategies in some situations are weak. I want to develop my long tournament game. Getting far is no problem. It’s just the holding on for a healthy cash at the end, not even winning, is a concern. Vegas is coming soon, I need to hone my skills until then.

Gonna give multitabling another attempt today. Had an unsuccessful attempt at long tourneys. played a 5k garauntee and finished ITM but like 400 out of 2500. Not happy with my tournament play as of late.

3.30+R NL Holdem 180 players

Played one today. Bought in for 3 for 1500 chips, with an addon for 3 for another 1500. At the end of rebuy bought another 2000 for 6.

Played pretty well. Was chip leader for majority of the tourney. I had about 70k and made a dumb call near the end with 8s for half my stack. Went up against AJ with 30k and 9J with a small stack, both behind me. Ace on the flop. had about 30k left with blinds at 3/6k pushed all in on the button with AJ lost to QQ to SB. Finished in 13th for about 18$. Blech. The blinds went up fairly quickly as this was a turbo. Not happy with the ending. I should have played a little more tight, especially with an all in call in front of me all in.

Pocket pairs were working for me but I guess only because it was getting a lot of action preflop and none post flop. Shame. I’ll play more of these. Top prize here was 470$ which would have been nice.

Pot odds in SNGs?

Bad Session today. lost about 18$ in 6 SNGs. Called a lot of hands down with draws when my money was in right and lost. Gut feeling vs. odds kinda thing. odds didnt work out.

When playing SNGs odds dont mean a lot because blinds go up so high and you start with such a small stack. I gotta pick up some cash soon. FOCUS BUDDY

I should definitely update every session so my thoughts aren’t so damn general and so I know the f I’m talking about.

Razz and stud suck. Any lowball game is not very fun IMHO

Pocket 9s

Ok so SNG strategy wasn’t going as great as i thought. so much for wishful thinking. Cash games however were a great success! I managed to cash out my original investment as soon as I doubled up. It turns out I’m better at PL Omaha H/L than I thought. Playing a lot of mixed games makes me realize how much math is required to play Limit holdem and how less interested I am in every time I play.

SNGs are painful!  Winning a full session is seemingly improbable. After a simultaneous 4 game outing, i’m only managing to profit about 4$ instead of the desired 47$. maybe I should play 8 or 16 at once to increase profit/hour? It seems so difficult to manage especially with such a small screen. Luck still seems to be a factor in my success. As is shoving on the river to weaker opponents. In certain situations I noticed it was more profitable with a bluff or a scary board to 3bet in than shoving preflop with premiums, even in late position with no callers or raisers before me. I guess i’m always scared of slowplaying premiums because it disgusts me to the point of tilting me to lose to lower hands when i could have taken it earlier.

Take qq or kk for example. if i raise preflop 3x or 4x the bb and get called by a suited ace and he flops an ace? I hate that. I gotta work on some strategy i guess.

I also have to stop calling the bb when i’m sb, and then bluffing the flop to steal blinds. It’s illogical and gives the opponent the chance to hit on the flop with a shitty hand that he may not have called with a raise preflop. Might as well raise preflop to steal it there.

Music choices? not that it has really affected me so far but if I’m singing i’m losing. Metal seems to make me bet more aggresively, whereas soft music makes me passive. pretty simple. Brit rock makes me call more readily for some reason.

The one thing i’m noticing about multitabling is that i act too quickly. Yes there’s a time limit. use it wisely. fuck what the tablemates are saying. take your time, make the right moves.

one weird thing to note, while multitabling once, i got pocket 9s on 3 of the 4 tables at the same time.

ALSO on a more obscure side note, i’m like 120 FPPs away from getting a hoodie. there is nothing else left to get.

What? How? Pourrrrqueeeee?!!!!

I started playing online poker again in hopes of bankrolling some cash to use as spending money since my work money clearly won’t even cover the cost of my schooling alone.

I will be multi-tabling low limit sit n gos, most likely 4 at a time. Most likely at 3.40$ on pokerstars. I think that in order to dissipate the luck factor (which I have none of) I need to see more hands per hour. This will also help me play tighter near the beginning of the tourney since I will see less flops with marginal hands. If things go my way, I will be making 60$ - 13.60 which is roughly 45$ per session, assuming I win them all. Since I usually don’t win them all, and usually get ITM 3/4 of the time, I will AT LEAST break even every session, eliminating most of the risks involved.

My overall strategy is to stay away from pots with silver and gold stars when they raise. ( there are many others that multitable SNGs too) who play at a higher level than I do. Capitalize on weakness and isolate the short stacks.

This blog will serve as a history of games I play and to recap session. What I did right/wrong. It is also to make sure I don’t repeat dumb mistakes and poor judgment calls. Maybe even to catalog stronger players to stay away from.

My goal is to play 7-10 sessions a week depending on my school work load. Do the math: at the most I make 450-600$ a week. At the least I make 0-10$ a week.

In the short run, I want to erase my current losses and break even in my current Tourney standings. (Septemper 17th -184$).

Pretty pathetic so far right? I’ll try to keep up with these stats on sharkscope or maybe if I find a better service.

I plan to start a bankroll of  10,000$ realistic or not in the next 6-12 months. Based on the numbers it should be close to this I will be serious, play tight aggressive. As you(I) can see, I have never even come close to a serious payday of anything close to this for tournaments but hopefully with a sound strategy, I can overcome this barrier. I don’t plan on investing a lot of money in this. If I start shitting it and get stuck more than 300$ then I’ll quit or start a new plan.
